GOT writers have revealed their next HBO series and it's controversial AF

Game of Thrones 21/07/2017

You thought Ed Sheeran's cameo in last week's episode was a risky move on the GOT showrunners behalf!? THINK AGAIN.

Game of Thrones
writers D.B Weiss and David Benioff have publically announced what they're going to be occupying themselves with once the iconic show wraps up next year...

And people are pissed.

Reaaaaaaal pissed.

This new show is titled Confederate and will take place in a parallel universe where the South won the US Civil War.

Entertainment Weekly
has posed a show synopsis and it sounds fucking insane.

"Confederate chronicles the events leading to the Third American Civil War. The series takes place in an alternate timeline, where the southern states have successfully seceded from the Union, giving rise to a nation in which slavery remains legal and has evolved into a modern institution.

"The story follows a broad swath of characters on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Demilitarized Zone - freedom fighters, slave hunters, politicians, abolitionists, journalists, the executives of a slave-holding conglomerate and the families of people in their thrall."

In a joint statement, Weiss and Benioff have said: "We have discussed Confederate for years, originally as a concept for a feature film. But our experience on Thrones has convinced us that no one provides a bigger, better storytelling canvas than HBO."

But as much as GOT gets the people going...  the people aren't sold on Confederate needing a bigger, better storytelling canvas... or any canvas at all for that matter.

Well, at least if Twitter is any indication.
