The first full trailer for Trainspotting 2 is here

Filmmaker Danny Boyle has been teasing Trainspotting fans for years about a sequel to his hit 1996 film.

Finally, a trailer is out, ahead of the 2017 release of T2: Trainspotting.

The sequel picks up the story of Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie 20 years after the events of the first film.

Following his betrayal of his mates after pulling off a huge drug deal with them, Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home - where they are waiting for him.

Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger; they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

The sequel seemed unlikely for a long time, before lead actor Ewan McGregor and Boyle resolved differences that prevented them from working together for years.

T2: Trainspotting also stars original cast members Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle. It will be released in February, 2017.
