Meeting through friends in 2008 and quickly forming a strong friendship, Jamie White and Tom McGuinness soon decided to combine each others distinct musical ideas and direction, resulting in swift recognition for their cutting edge style of house, techno and electronica, guaranteed to get dance floors filled, moving and hooked from start to finish.
Having played some of New Zealand's largest events, including We Love Sounds, Summadayze, Chemistry, Big Clubbers Night Out, Slinky & many more, the two have found themselves on lineups definitely worth talking about, acts such as Nic Fanciulli, Sebastien Leger, Eddie Halliwell, Underworld, John Askew & Carl Cox to name a few. Personal favourites would be supporting Infusion Live, early 2010 in Melbourne and more recently warming up for Fergie at Be Club April 2010.
A passion for music in every way from the earliest age, has immensely influenced both of them to use their creative talents to take them even further into producing and developing their sound. In 2009 armed with the combined skills of Tom's Audio Engineering & Music Production diploma alongside Jamie's singing, television commercials and live show recordings, they made the obvious transition from DJ booth to studio, and have begun to immerse themselves in the creative world of a producer, already to a fruitful end.
On the DJ circuit, Jamie & Tom are known for their animated and fun-filled sets, which blend quirky tech house, groovy deep house, drum driven techno, spaced out electronica and everything in between, they are renowned for keeping it fresh, different and interesting on the dancefloor. In today's competitive market their ability to use a mixture of traditional techniques amid a new age backdrop of laptops, controllers, flashing lights and energy is second to none, and these guys never disappoint.
A recently acquired monthly residency at one of Auckland's cocktail bar's 'Red', now allows Jamie and Tom a regular platform from which to give their fans and newcomers alike a chance to experience them in an intimate and ambient setting. The night 'Murmur', focuses more on the laidback and groovier side of house, slower and more sensual, a style often hard to appreciate in the pumping club environment, the perfect meeting place for that quiet drink before heading out late into the night!
Late Thursday nights you will find both Jamie and Tom on the airwaves with their radio show 'Murmur' (which is named after their monthly residency) on New Zealands GEORGE FM, giving them two hours to showcase a blend of original, classic and cutting edge material. This is the show to wet the electronic progressive tech appetite. Set your late Thursday night mojo in motion! , featuring weekly special guests and many a prize to be picked up, the show is always a hit with traditional listeners, and those tuned in over the web.
Solo or together, Jamie and Tom are passionate about what they do, whether on air or in the club this passion reflects through the speakers. Be sure to check them out next time you see them on the bill.
Murmur.
