Sunday afternoons are all about the UK/NZ connection... the second week each Month Wendy is Joined by Gareth Farry for a special "People in your Neighbourhood" 30Htz show.
About Wendy
Wendy Douglas has been living in New Zealand for the past year. She's not only brought with her a wealth of experience from her 14 years as a successful radio/TV presenter and voice over artist in the UK, but a trailer load of records and a sound system called
30 Hertz.
She started her broadcasting career as a presenter on the UK's first legal dance music station Kiss FM in London. She presented and co-produced a daily magazine programme called the Word where she interviewed many of the leading names in dance music. Her TV career began when Sky Television filmed a band being interviewed by Wendy. They liked what she did so much they offered her a job as a reporter for their youth entertainment show. One of her first assignments was a trip to the Florida to interview Pamela Anderson, Andre Agassi and Cindy Crawford. It was a crazy experience, which gave her a taste for telly.
She went on the present a diverse range of programmes from Channel 4's snowboarding programme Board Stupid to late night dance music show Dance Nation to an entertainment show called Good Stuff in which she was featured doing celebrity interviews in the back of a limo every week.
Music has always been a big part of Wendy's life. She remembers her dad playing his seven inch Motown and reggae records when she was a child. Sunday was reggae day in her house, a tradition that lives on today. Wendy has always loved clubbing and became a regular face on the club scene during her Kiss days and beyond. Always keen to try out new things she was as happy in a techno club as she was in an R'n'B / hip hop club. She also played out at clubs like 333 in London's Old Street and Paradise Bar in Kensal Rise organised by the infamous Sancho Panza sound system.
