There's catfishing, and then there's this

Snapchat's gender-swap filter made headlines and all your mates hot early last month, but now its gone a step further and helped take down a cop looking to meet up with underage girls in San Francisco.

A student known only as Ethan created a fake Tinder profile using the filter to make himself look like a young girl and soon received a message from a 40-year-old police officer named Robert Davies.

"I believe he messaged me, 'Are you down to have some fun tonight?' and I decided to take advantage of it," Ethan told NBC.

Ethan said he told the officer that he was 16, but that didn't stop him.

"We started texting on there, and it got a lot more explicit."

Ethan told NBC he didn't plan on bringing down a cop, just trying to find someone looking for a date with an underage girl.

"I was just looking to get someone... he just happened to be a cop."

Davies has since been arrested and faces a charge of contacting a minor to commit a felony and has also been placed on administrative leave.

Hats off to you, Ethan!
