WATCH: The first trailer for Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn spinoff just dropped

TV and Movies 02/10/2019

The new trailer for 2020 Suicide Squad spin-off Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) has just been released.

The trailer opens with Harley Quinn - played once again by Australian actress Margot Robbie - explaining her name's origin and that she's set on doing her own thing.

The Black Mask, portrayed by Ewan McGregor, is the villain standing in her way, so she teams up with a bunch of DC's other anti-heroes to take him down.

Speaking to Collider, Robbie said: "I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, 'Harley needs friends.' Harley loves interacting with people, so don't ever make her do a standalone film."

Catch the trailer above! Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to hit theaters on 7 February 2020.
