Alison Wonderland manages to maintain a pretty chirpy and fun exterior, however, life hasn't always been easy for the Australian DJ and producer.
She has recently come out to speak up on her struggles with mental health and the dark places she has found herself in, addressing her depression, anxiety, and some of the emotional abuse she has faced in the past.
In a new interview with Viceland, Alison specifically spoke on an abusive relationship she was in, and the low point in her life it drove her too. A lot of this inspiring her recent album Awake.
I was completely disintegrating. It was a very tough time. I wasn’t eating. I wasn’t talking to anyone. It was literally destroying me.
The interview is an extremely eye-opening watch, as it's not often we see our favourite artists open up about their personal demons.
It's especially important after the recent suicide of producer Avicii, that we all make an effort to ignite the conversation on mental health.
We're proud of you for overcoming it, Alison Wonderland. Kia kaha.
