Elon Musk challenges Putin to a fight for Ukraine because apparently 2022 isn’t surreal enough

And yes, Jake Paul has tried to muscle in on the action too.

Elon Musk has gone on another tweet spree nobody asked for, challenging Russian President Vladimir Putin to a "single combat" fight with Ukraine set as the prize.

Of course, Putin is pretty busy committing war crimes and running a military invasion at the moment, and we thought Musk might have better things to do, like space travel or something? But apparently not.

“I hereby challenge Владимир Путин to single combat,” Musk tweeted, using the Russian alphabet to spell Putin’s name.

“Stakes are Україна [Ukraine],” he added.

Just to add to the ridiculousness of Musk’s idea, Putin is actually a black belt in Judo and even co-wrote a book on the subject, although he has just been stripped of his honorary Taekwondo black belt and suspended from his role as honorary president of the International Judo Federation due to his attacks on innocent Ukrainians.

When questioned about his intentions by one of his nearly 78 million followers, Musk reckoned he was "absolutely serious” about stepping out the world leader.

"If Putin could so easily humiliate the west, then he would accept the challenge. But he will not.”

Musk has already been clear about his support for Ukraine against the Russian invasion, tweeting “hold strong Ukraine” in one of his more lucid moments.

“And also my sympathies to the great people of Russia, who do not want this,” he added. The billionaire SpaceX founder also sent a bunch of Starlink satellite internet devices to Ukraine to help ensure cities that were under attack could stay connected online.

Now, as any reasonable person knows, there’s no way this fight is actually going ahead. Enter notoriously unreasonable YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, who clearly saw an opportunity to capitalise on the situation.

“10,000 retweets and I’ll make Elon Musk vs Putin boxing match happen,” Paul tweeted, adding in a hypothetical undercard match featuring Kanye West vs Pete Davidson and himself facing off against Connor McGregor in MMA.

Awkwardly, at the time of writing, old mate has only racked up less than 2,500 retweets, but he has attracted heaps of comments pointing out how absurd he sounds.

“Who do you really think you are?” one Twitter user wrote.

“How desperate for attention are you lol? Gregor said you’re a walking meme,” said another.

A third said Paul might as well add "Santa Claus vs Jesus" to his dream fixture.
