Lorde can't let go in teaser for new track 'Green Light'
Lorde's new single 'Green Light' will be released on Friday at 8am, following a clip of it being debuted on the streets of Auckland.
It's fans' of the Kiwi pop star's first taste of her second album - a follow-up to her 2013 smash hit Pure Heroine - and it's a more upbeat style of dance music than they're used to.
It features the lyrics: "Come get my things, but I can't let go".
On Thursday morning, the 20-year-old songstress released the same clip online which played in Auckland the night before, with a snippet of the accompanying video.
"I am so overjoyed to finally announce that my first single, 'Green Light', is coming out tomorrow at 8am," Lorde announced on Twitter on Thursday morning.
"I am so proud of this song. It's very different, and kind of unexpected. It's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you dance. It's the first chapter of a story I'm going to tell you, the story of the last two wild, fluorescent years of my life. This is where we begin."
Lorde fans in her hometown of Auckland were given a map on Wednesday indicating three locations which had what are thought to be samples of the song's lyrics. At a CBD location, the audio sample was played and amateur footage of it was widely shared online.
