Over one million people have signed a petition to remove Fraser Anning from Parliament

A petition calling for the removal of Australian Senator Fraser Anning from Parliament has gained some serious steam.

Anning has been widely condemned after anti-Muslim comments he made following the Christchurch attacks.

'Senator Fraser Anning’s views have no place in the government of our democratic and multicultural country,' the change.org petition's description reads. 'Within the bounds of Australian law, we request that he be pushed to resign from his position as Senator.'

The petition has amassed more than one million signatures in the two days it has been live, a site record.

Australian teen Will Connolly - now known on social media as 'Egg Boy' - recently went viral after cracking an egg on Anning's head during interviews at a rally on Saturday.

Connolly was then slapped twice with an open palm by Anning before being tackled to the ground and held down.

A GoFundMe page has since raised more than NZ$40,000 for Connolly, and he plans to donate the majority of the money towards victims of the attack.
