Adele has something new coming, and while the album name will follow her regular conventions and align with a year of her life, she has teased a complete genre switch for her next venture.
Her previous albums - 19, 21, and 25 - have reflecte different periods in the British singer's life and apparently 30 was pretty tough. She joked on social media that her next album will consist entirely of drum and bass tunes to spite those that made 30 an absolute mission.
“This is 31… thank fucking god,” she begins.
"30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay."
"Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough. I’ll learn to love you lot eventually."
She finishes, “Bunch of fucking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you.”
Surely she's joking and will stick to her soulful sound, but we can dream right? If you want a taste of what an Adele DnB record might sound like, give High Contrast's bootleg of her smash hit 'Hello' a go below.
