Pretty Lights banned douchebag with giant jellyfish totem from standing front of stage
Last weekend, the electronic producer Pretty Lights took a stand against dickheads holding obnoxiously large objects in the crowd of his show.
There's nothing worse. You've spent $90 on a ticket to see your favourite artist, you've cut your pre-drinking time down to turn up to the gig early and get yourself a mean spot up the front. You're bloody frothing.
Then just as the lights go down and the artist appears on stage, some douchebag shoves in front of you and pulls out a giant New Zealand flag, a girlfriend who wants to jump on his shoulders every five minutes, or worse, a fucking jellyfish umbrella...
That's just how the punches roll right? Don't have a cry.. just vibe out to the atmosphere and lack there of view?
Pretty Lights have said no to flags, signs or other large objects, known as 'totems' that might obstruct your view.
Just to be clear since some people think it’s their right to be an inconsiderate douche. Your right to ‘self-expression’ has not been banned at our shows. We simply just want both our crew and our audience to be able to enjoy the show how they intended.
Reportedly a dude with a jellyfish totem was asked to move from his prime spot during Pretty Lights set at his Episodic Festival in New Hampshire. Then a "no totems" sign flashed up on screen.
But Pretty Lights and his lighting crew don't want to be labelled fun sponges. Pretty Lights’ lighting director LazerShark has said:
“Just to be clear since some people think it’s their right to be an inconsiderate douche. Your right to ‘self-expression’ has not been banned at our shows. We simply just want both our crew and our audience to be able to enjoy the show how they intended. We could have simply confiscated this stupid jellyfish but instead we decided to have a little fun and prove a very simple point. Stand to the side dummys. Or I’m coming to your job with a giant sign that says fuck you and you can explain to your boss why some guy is interfering with your work.”
We can get behind that mate.
