Colin Meads went for one last beersie at his local rugby club over the weekend
On Sunday afternoon, Waitete Rugby Club members got to share one final pint with their ol' mate Pinetree.
Around 100 people formed a guard of honour as the legend was carried into the clubrooms that he'd played in from 1951-1975.
Members had a moment of silence, before drinking a beer and sharing their fond memories of Sir Cloin Mead.
Stuff reports that Max Lamb, a Waitete life member stood up in front of the crowd and said: "We are here today to pay our respects and acknowledge Pinetree for his indescribable contribution to this club,"
"A man who was, is, and always will be from Waitete."
"Rugby is a contact sport. Pinetree experienced plenty of that as a player, but he never lost contact after he retired."
"Pinetree was totally committed to this club and the club was committed to him."
Sir Colin's funeral will be held today, Monday, August 28, at the Les Munro Centre in Te Kuiti at 1pm.
