Love your bed? Stay in it for two months and score $23,000
We love bed. Bed is great. Often we’re not very good at putting ourselves in it… but once there, we wake up most mornings and want to stay there forever.
What if we told you you could make $23,000 (NZD) in two months, simply by doing exactly that. Staying in bed.
Researchers at France’s space medical institute are looking for the bed-lovers of the world to apply for a two-month stint in bed. On Earth. Not space. Just to be clear.
Only catch is, you literally can’t step a foot out of bed the entire time you’re there. Pooing, pissing, washing.. everything must happen within the confines of the mattress.
They’re looking for 24 healthy, non-smoking slumber jacks, with no allergies, and a BMI between 22-27 who they can perform tests on before and after they’ve hung out in bed for two months.
"The idea of this study is to reproduce the weightlessness of the International Space Station (ISS)," Dr Arnaud Beck told 20 Minutes. "During the first two weeks our scientists will do a whole series of tests and measurements on the volunteers. This will be followed by a 60-day period during which they must remain in bed, the head slightly inclined downwards at less than six degrees."
After the two month Sleeping Beauty stint, more tests will be performed to try figure out what happens to us if we don’t touch the ground for a prolonged period of time.
"In certain conditions the cardiovascular system is affected and is not capable of making the same effort as before the experiment," Beck continued. "We even see a greater tendency to drops in blood pressure and vertigo."
Sure literally having to shit the bed is definitely a set back, but think of all the Netflix you could consume. No reason why you can't be on the interwebs. You could spend the two months doing something super productive, like learning a language or finally teaching yourself how to mix properly... AND HORIZONTALLY. WOAH. You could become the first horizontal DJ. Yeow.
And we're just getting started. The options are truly endless.
If this sounds like a bit you, go ahead and apply here.
