Check out this footage from Major Lazer performing in Cuba!
Major Lazer, obviously tied in closely with Caribbean and dancehall influences, drew an absolutely massive crowd to the Musicabana Music Festival – one commenter notes that there are 200,000 people in the crowd; though that number has yet to be verified, it doesn’t look like it could be far off.
“For as long as I can remember, Cuba has played an influential role on my love of music—Cuba has such a powerful cultural impact all over the world and for me, especially growing up in Florida, it became one of the biggest cultural centers for music to evolve from,” says Diplo. “I was lucky enough to visit Cuba a few years back with my friends Calle 13 and during my four days there my mind was blown by the people, depth of culture and their way of life.”
Major Lazer are only the second act to perform in Cuba since 1962, second to Audioslave who performed there in 2005.
