A viral dance music question from a BBC quiz show is being sampled for some norty tunes

"We need Jungle, I'm afraid."

A clip posted by BBC 2’s quiz show ‘University Challenge’ has gone viral and landed in the hands of some producers who are going to town with it.

Four students were asked: ‘What name is given to the genre of dance music that developed in the UK in the early 1990s out of the rave scene and reggae sound system culture associated with acts such as 'A Guy Called Gerald' and 'Goldie'?’

After a couple of confused looks amongst the students, one answered ‘Drum and Bass’. The host's response was iconic, delivering a simple yet memorable line: 'We need Jungle, I'm afraid.'

Following @nathanfiler's plea on X for the video to be sampled, creative edits flooded in, some of which are pure gold.

Check out a few of em’ below:

Amol Rajan, the host featured in the video, was super stoked with the virality of this clip.

“I’ve had such a blessed and lucky life but I tell you what, this marriage of my early 20s and my early 40s is the sweetest sight in a while," he wrote on Instagram.

What my junglist, rave-loving younger self would have made of all this I just cannot begin to imagine!

This is the stuff the Internet is MADE for.
