Jauz, a.k.a Sam Vogel, shared with fans a few weeks ago his plan for his dystopian concept album, ‘The Wise and The Wicked’ – and it’s arrived just in time for the weekend.
Across twenty-three tracks his wide range of musical influences are heard – ‘The Wise’ showcasing his more lyrical and emotional side, while ‘The Wicked’ covers his hard hitting bangers we know and love him for.
Jauz explained the decision to fans:
When I’m writing music, half of my brain wants to write fun, crazy bangers for parties, clubs, fests, etc.
"This is represented by “The Wicked” The other half of the time I want to write emotional, intelligent, experimental music that feeds the “inner artist” in myself, which is represented by “The Wise.” The middle ground, which is where I strive to really be, is a blend of the melodic, emotional parts of my music paired with high energy drops and climaxes. This is represented by “The United”.
The album has a star studded track list, featuring twenty artists –Snails, Kiiara, Adventure Club, Tisoki, and DJ Snake just to name a few.
A handful of tracks have been shared in the lead up to the release, but at twenty-three tracks long there’s no shortage of new material. The album goes on a journey - experimenting with genres like bass house, drum and bass, techno, dubstep and everything in between. Check out the track list and have a listen below:
