Glastonbury announced this week that its 50th anniversary edition would be postponed because of public health concerns surrounding COVID-19, which was incredibly gutting to a lot of festival goers. To raise spirits just a little, the BBC are hosting a special edition broadcast in celebration of the festival’s longstanding legacy.
“We are already looking forward to next year’s festival at Worthy Farm and will now look at providing our audiences with a celebration of Glastonbury in June,” said BBC in their announcement of the broadcast. No exact date has been given yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
Programming also hasn’t been announced yet, but the BBC have quite a good stock of festival footage from previous years that will likely be streamed.
Glasto only just announced their incredible lineup last week, including with headline performances from Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, and T Swift. It definitely would’ve been a goodie but it is what it is. Will just have to plan an extra big one for next year!
