Ones To Watch: PLASTiC Making Waves for New Zealand Music Month

NZ Producer PLASTiC is making his name known in the Aotearoa Garage scene, and he’s not wasting any time doing it.

Hailing from South Auckland, NZ Producer PLASTiC is making his name known in the Aotearoa Garage scene, and he’s not wasting any time doing it.

PLASTiC made his DJ debut earlier this year, featuring in the second instalment of Gasoline Alley.

“ICYMI i had my first hit-out as a DJ - suuuuper stoked with how it turned out and about the people i got to meet!” he wrote at the time on Instagram.

“The goal is still the same, push the reo, push our people and push Aotearoa garage out till we’re everywhere.”

It wasn’t the first we’d heard his work at George FM though. In 2022, PLASTiC won the Waiata Reo Remix comp for his Liquid DNB ‘Ed Waaka' Flip.

Speaking of the win, PLASTiC told George FM Drive’s Sin & Brook, “It's funny when I came in here for that, I saw another DJ in the mix and said to myself 'That'll be me'.

Two years later, PLASTiC is back at George FM and in the mix with Sin & Brook for New Zealand Music Month.

“This month I've been focussing on New Zealand music, the music that made me want to start doing this myself.”

To round out the month,  PLASTiC put together 20 minutes of 100% Kiwi tunes that he'd either remixed, edited or blended.
