To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori we’re introducing more te reo Māori to George FM listeners in Tāmaki Makaurau & around Aotearoa.
We’ve launched a te reo version of the iconic station slogan Beats Working - Pai Ake I Te Mahi. It will be on air as an official station sting, and feature on a limited edition run of special hooded sweatshirts - you can buy one here.
Every morning of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, you could win a Pai Ake I Te Mahi hoodie by listening out for George Breakfast's Kīwaha o te Rā, a new phrase each day, introduced on air by Lee & Tammy. These phrases are uniquely ‘George’, drawing from the world of music & festivals, the kind of kīwaha you could bust out to impress ya mates. Look out for them on the George Insta daily as well.
Also listen out to the George Mahi Mix this Monday at midday where Dan Aux will be celebrating the Māori Language Moment, dropping a 30 minute DJ set composed entirely of waiata in te reo.
In addition to this week’s action, all George FM’s primetime show hosts have embraced the Mahuru Māori challenge this month, committing to utilising even more te reo in their daily shows across the month, and ongoing. Check out Sin & Brook getting amongst it HERE.
