Kara Rickard features in the new Lonely Lingerie maternity campaign, she discussed with George Breakfast above, or you can read her written thoughts below.
When I was approached to take part in the new @lonelylingerie maternity campaign, I was hesitant to say yes. I was worried people would judge me. Judge my body and they way it looks, or my decision to put myself on the internet in my underwear.
All too often, we stare at strangers on social media, and for whatever reason, we judge them. I used to do it and it's not something I'm proud of. But I've learnt to be kinder to others, and to myself, and not be swayed or influenced by the unrealistic ideals of beauty we see online.
I love the way that #lonelygirlsproject challenges those ideals by being so inclusive and empowering for women. I feel privileged that they gave me the opportunity to share these intimate moments with my son and some of the lessons I've learnt since I became a mother (and I was very humbled that they asked me to translate my interview in to Te Reo, providing such a great platform to share my language).
