TikTok singer accused of ripping off Wilkinson’s ‘Afterglow’ responds to controversy

It's tough to get one past the loyal DnB heads out there.

A German TikToker accused of claiming Wilkinson’s ‘Afterglow’ as her own has apologised today - and it's actually incredibly wholesome.

Shana was promoting her first-ever song ‘Falling Deeper’ when commenters called her out, savagely letting her know the beat and melody of her track was almost the exact same as the hit DnB tune.

Both videos promoting the song have now been deleted, and Shana posted an explanation and apology video on her TikTok.

“A few months ago I was working in a studio with a producer and he showed me a few beats and melodies we could use,” she told her 4 million TikTok followers.

“The one we ended up with was the one I fell in love with immediately," she added, referring to the 'Afterglow'-esque track.

We get it girl, we all fell in love with it as well.

“Thankfully you guys made me aware it sounded like ‘Afterglow’ that was released in 2013 by Becky Hill and Wilkinson,” she said, before explaining she has attempted to reach the producer who originally showed her the beat.

Not only that, but Shana has pulled the upcoming release of her version of the song, so you know she's genuine.

Anyway, now to the most shocking line in the video - and listen up to all of you who scream bloody murder when ‘Afterglow’ tops one of our countdowns and complain that it's overplayed.

That’s right. There is a country out there where 'Afterglow' is relatively unknown.

Depending on how big Shana is over in Germany, that may change in the near future.

It's good to see an up-and-coming artist not only own their mistake and deliver a genuine apology but also get exposed to DnB!

Hopefully, we'll see Shana front left at RnV in six months' time, getting amongst some DnB before heading up the hill and letting all of her mates know how much she loves them.
