Flume tells us he loves playing in Aotearoa because the crowds are 'genuinely bonkers'

He also talked about his love for vege gardens and we played the Ekko & Sidetrack bootleg of 'Running Back'.

We chatted with the one and only Flume earlier this week and the legendary DJ told us how much he loves Kiwi crowds, how he’s started a vegetable garden, and give us his thoughts on the Ekko & Sidetrack Bootleg of ‘Rushing Back’.

When General Lee asked him about his upcoming shows in NZ (George is proud to be bringing him, get your tickets here) Flume said it’s been a while but he can’t wait because Kiwis know how to have a good time.

“It’s been a long time, but it is always a pleasure,” he said.

“I genuinely love New Zealand so much. It’s one of my favourite places to go and the crowds are nuts. Crowds are genuinely fucking bonkers whenever I come down, like, for real.”

Flume’s currently touring in the USA, having just done a show in New York. He told us that he’s having a ball of a time, but he’s looking forward to getting back home, where he’s running a vege garden.

“It’s been really fun. It’s a nice balance y’know, these shows, and being in New York, and travelling the world is very fun, but it’s also really tiring,” he said.

“It’s a very simple existence now,” he said about living in Byron Bay. "I’ve got my vegetable garden… I got some kale, tomatoes, pumpkin, gonna do some broccoli, all the herbs - it’s a beautiful thing.”

One of the best bootleg tracks out there is Ekko & Sidetrack’s remix of Flume’s tune ‘Rushing Back’. Ekko & Sidetrack were at George earlier, so General Lee decided to do them a solid and play the track for Flume.

Flume loved it, saying he might even get it going in his next set.

“That’s mad,” he said. “I should play that tonight. I feel like that’s going to slap harder than the original to be honest, like in a show context.”
