A$AP Rocky found guilty of assault

The rapper is one of three charged following an incident in Stockholm.

US rapper A$AP Rocky has been found guilty of assault and given a two-year suspended sentence.

The 30-year-old has also been ordered to pay damages to the victim of the assault, which took place in Stockholm, Sweden at the end of June.

A$AP Rocky was in custody for close to a month following the assault before he was released ahead of the verdict.

He took to Instagram to thank fans for their support and express his disappointment in the outcome.

Two members of ASAP Rocky's entourage were also found guilty of the same charge.

"The assault has not been of such a serious nature that a prison sentence must be chosen," the court said in a statement.

"The defendants are therefore sentenced to conditional sentences."

The nature of their sentence means that all three men will avoid prison as long as they commit no further crimes across a two-year probation period.

All three claimed they had been acting in self-defence, but the court said they were "not in a situation where they were entitled to self-defence" and wrote in its verdict that they "assaulted the victim by hitting and kicking him as he lay on the ground.

"The artist has also thrown the victim to the ground and stepped on his arm."

The court said the victim was awarded damages for what the court described as the violation of his integrity and for pain and suffering.
